How are your cheeses shipped?

Our cheese is shipped via UPS with an option to ship 2-Day Air for a flat rate fee, or Next Day Air at the current cost of shipping.  All shipments are packaged in an insulated pack with ice packs to keep it nice and chilly while traveling.

Where do you ship?

We are able to ship our products throughout the contiguous United States.

For shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, US Possessions, APO-FPO addresses, please contact us toll free at 1-888-331-1193 to receive a custom shipping rate.

We do not ship to PO Boxes.

How much does shipping cost?

We offer flat rate 2 Day Air shipping across the United States. Our Flat-Rate fees are broken up into Zones. The shipping zones are defined on the map below. Please note, for express or overnight shipping please call 1-888-331-1193 as extra charges will apply.

  • Zone 1: $15 flat rate shipping: Illinois, Iowa, Upper Peninsula Michigan, Minnesota, the metro area of Saint Louis, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin
  • Zone 2: $25 flat rate shipping: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, Lower Peninsula Michigan, the rest of Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming

Can you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, our site allows for items to be sent to multiple recipients, making gift-giving quick and easy. However, shipping is charged per address, not per order.

Can I cancel or change my online order?

Yes, please call Call 1-888-331-1193 for changes or to cancel your order.  Please note, we can only grant changes and cancellations to orders which have not yet shipped. See below for the shipping schedule.

Can I call in my order?

You betcha! Call 1-888-331-1193 to speak to someone about placing an order over the phone.

Once I've placed my order, when should I expect to receive the cheese?

We only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays. Your cheese will have a 1-2 day journey from us to you, depending on your shipping preference.

  • Orders placed Tuesday (after 12pm CST)-Sunday will be shipped the following Monday.
  • Orders placed on Monday and Tuesday (before 12pm CST) will be shipped Tuesday.

During the holiday season or other peak times, we may need additional days to process your order and regular shipping timelines may be adjusted to avoid UPS Holiday Shipping.

Does UPS require a signature for delivery?

No, UPS does not require a signature for delivery, so the package may be left at your doorstep.  To make sure the cheese isn’t “standing alone” for too long, make sure you track your package so you know when to expect your delivery!

How should I expect the cheese to look on arrival? 

Just like people, cheese can sometimes look a little worn out after traveling.  It may not be as cold as it was when it left our hands, and the ice packs may be partially or entirely melted.  As long as it is still cool to the touch, it’s okay!  There may be some dampness or moisture present on the packaging materials, but this too is totally normal.   If you have any concerns about the appearance or taste of your cheese, please call or email us.

What is your return policy?

We hope your experience with our cheese is nothing short of “grate,” but if for any reason something isn’t “gouda,” we want to hear about it so we can replace or refund your order (we cannot accept the return of perishable items, so please dispose of the product as you see fit).  Please note, we cannot be responsible for incorrect delivery addresses entered by the customer, or unopened shipments delivered within the appropriate timeframe.  If there is a delay or damage on our carrier’s end, we will work with them to resolve it promptly at no cost to you. In some cases, we may ask for photos of the damaged or unacceptable product to send to the carrier. 

Why is my cheese coming from Shullsburg, Wisconsin?

Caves of Faribault cheeses sold through our e-commerce site are shipped from the warehouse and distribution center of our sister company, Shullsburg Creamery, located in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.
